My children loooove bedtime stories, and one of their all-time favourite is Ugly Duckling.
Usually each story ends with "...and the moral of the story is..." whatever la, something that they can learn from.
With Ugly Duckling, the moral that I try to stress to my children is to never look down on others no matter how ugly they look, or how stupid, or how fat we think they are. Because maybe one day they'll be better than us.
Dania: "A'ah, macam kakak tak pernah pun gelak kat mama bila mama buruk"
Mama : "Eh, bila masa pulak yg mama buruk tu?"
Dania: "Bila muka mama ada merah2 tu mama buruk la"
Mama: "Merah2 mcm jerawat ke?"
Dania: "A'ah, merah2 mcm jerawat"
Huwaaaaaaaaa!!
But the truth is, I'm glad that she understood the moral of the story. Even when she had to mention mom's ugly face.
So the moral of this story: Gunalah ubat jerawat! ;)
